Common questions

How do I open Settings or the Grown-ups area?

Tap the gear on the home screen. A simple math question appears first — this keeps little ones from changing settings by accident.

Some pages show a blue cloud. What does that mean?

Those pages are in a page pack that hasn't downloaded yet. Connect to Wi-Fi, tap the page, then tap Get this pack. After that, the pack works offline. You can manage packs in Settings → Page Packs.

How does Magic Reveal work?

On pages that have a colored picture, tap Reveal in the toolbar, then rub the page with your finger or Apple Pencil to uncover the colors. Tap Reveal again to go back to coloring.

How do I lock the tools for my child?

Open More → Lock while drawing, choose which tools are allowed, and lock. To unlock, hold the lock button for a second.

My Apple Pencil double-tap or squeeze doesn't switch to the eraser.

Check iPad Settings → Apple Pencil and make sure double-tap or squeeze is turned on and set to "Switch between current tool and eraser".

Can my child color with a finger?

Yes. Open More → Touch Mode to switch between finger and Apple Pencil drawing.

How do I back up drawings or move them to a new iPad?

Open the Gallery and use Backup. Save the backup to Files or iCloud Drive. On the new iPad, install the app, open the Gallery and choose Restore.

How do I print a drawing?

While drawing, open More → Share and choose Print. Any AirPrint printer works.

How do I set a daily time limit?

Open Settings → Grown-ups and choose a daily limit. When time is up, a friendly break screen appears; a grown-up can add more time.
